OT3: Buzz, Woody and Jessie

So, TVtropes and urban dictionary defines OT3 as a threesome pairing, and even though like, logically and hypothetically, it could happen, it’s disgusting to think about considering it’s toys. I only used it cause that’s the only acronym I found that relates to a group of three friends. Anyway, yep, it’s a double Toy Story post. I’m unleashing my inner child cause this series is just so frickin’ adorable and it’s one of the movies I grew up with, so it kinda means something to me. Plus the release of the first Toy Story fell in the year of my birth, so, yeah.

Buzz, Woody and Jessie didn’t really have much friendship moments until the third movie when they were all comfortable with each other and knew each other better (unless you count the second movie when Buzz and Woody teamed up to rescue Jessie from the airplane). I really like this triad cause it incorporates the stereotypical “Two Guys and a Girl” trope with two thirds being romantic interests, but it also adds a bit of its own creativity in it. They don’t really specify on the romanticism, probably because it’s a Pixar movie, and they really work together, looking out for each other and putting their friendship and everyone else’s needs above all others. They co-work as the leaders of the toys, and they make sure that everyone is in a harmonious environment and are the ones to calm them down when they’re panicking, which really is a nice touch.

Now that they’re together as a cohesive team, it seems that they’re the main favorites of the owners that they’ve shared together. Both Andy and Bonnie seem to care for them more than the rest, as far as I know, based on the fanfiction that I’ve read and some scenes that they have together. I mean, Andy basically made them a team in his western imagination playtime.

Yeah, I don’t really see much of it either, but like, look at that first picture, it means something, I think. They’re so together and adorable and it’s cute.

This is my favorite trio of trio friendships there are because there’s not much drama between the three of them from what they portray in the movies, and they’re able to work together as a team and aren’t as stubborn with each other. I think most kids could learn a thing or two from their friendship, as well as the Buzz and Woody friendship, because it shows that a friendship can be strong and remain a friendship without any romantic intentions.

Brotp: Woody and Buzz

This past Thanksgiving break had got me reeling back to the good old days of Toy Story. I mean, Toy Story 1 and 2 both opened during the Thanksgiving weekend, right? This has been one of my favorite bromantic OTPs for as long as I was alive, because it could expand on different parts and teach everyone in the world valuable lessons on the power of friendship. Call me a child for still being a dedicated fan of this at age nineteen, but I love it.

Woody and Buzz started off as rivals in the first movie, mainly because Woody was jealous of Buzz getting all the attention from their owner, Andy (typical, being the first favorite toy and all). I think the main reason why I wasn’t particularly pulled to this movie as much as the other two was because I was a little tired and bored at how drawn out the producers made them develop their friendship. I mean, Woody spent about half of the movie trying to get rid of Buzz and he almost sort of succeeded when he pushed him out the window, but like they could’ve had some sort of truce or something in the middle. I don’t know, I guess the producers thought the way they did it would make it a good movie, and I’m not one to disagree, it is a good movie, and I guess Woody made up for everything by saving Buzz from blowing up so it’s a win win for everyone.

The second movie didn’t have as many Woody/Buzz broments, putting in some new characters for Woody to know in place of that, but Buzz did spend like the majority of the movie going on a life-or-death mission to save him from his kidnapper, which shows pure dedication and a great change in their friendship compared to the first movie. The fact that Buzz would risk life and limb, crossing traffic-filled streets and walking long strides, no matter how much his troupe complained about the distance is a beautiful thing and I think some people underestimate the strength that their friendship has and how much they would do for each other.

“Woody once risked his life to save me. I couldn’t call myself his friend if I weren’t willing to do the same.”-Buzz Lightyear (Toy Story 2)

Seriously, if that doesn’t get you right in the feels, you’d better check yourself before you wreck yourself.

Also this:

“When it all ends, I’ll have old Buzz Lightyear to keep me company. For infinity and beyond.”-Woody (Toy Story 2)

And let’s throw this in for good measure:

RIGHT IN THE FEELS.

They are the first example of a bromantic relationship I was ever exposed to in my childhood. Their bromance is one of the best ever in any of my fandoms, and I always look back on this first out of all of them whenever I think of it or need inspiration.

No matter how old you get, you can always find your way back to the roots of your beliefs and your interests. Woody and Buzz’s friendship has taught me many lessons in my lifetime, including the one crucial one that ties everything together: Even people who are completely, unequivocally different from each other, can be the best of friends.
